UPDATED: Cabazon Man Suspected of Killing Sister Held on Murder, Murder With Malice Charges

Update 11:58 a.m.:  The Riverside County District Attorney's office tells Banning-Beaumont Patch that the arraignment of a man suspected of killing his sister in Cabazon has been postponed.

It's been continued to Feb. 18, according to Riverside County District Attorney Spokesman John Hall.

Jail records indicate Horton remains locked up in the downtown Riverside jail in lieu of $1 million bail.  The sheriff's department is holding him on charges of murder and "murder with malice," records indicate.

A 35-year-old Cabazon man suspected in the murder of his younger sister is expected in court Tuesday.

Michael James Horton was arrested Friday in Banning in connection with the death of Jennifer Horton, 34, whose body was found on Jan. 27 inside a residence in the 14200 block of Broadway in Cabazon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Coroner's officials haven't yet released Jennifer Horton's cause of death, but it appeared she had "suffered traumatic injuries that caused her death," sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said.

Sheriff's officials didn't say how they connected Michael Horton to his sister's death.

He is being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside in lieu of $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at the Banning Court, according to jail records.
