2013 Beaumont Cherry Festival Kicks Off Thursday, Runs Through Weekend

The festival-- now in its 95th year-- will run Thursday through Sunday at Beaumont's Stewart Park.

The latest installment of the annual Beaumont Cherry Festival officially kicks of Thursday evening, and thousands are expected to attend.

The event, held at Stewart Park off of 8th Street and Orange Ave., opens its gates Thursday at 5 p.m.

Hours for this year's festival are:

  • Thursday, June 6: 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
  • Friday, June 7: 5 p.m. until midnight
  • Saturday, June 8: Noon until midnight
  • Sunday, June 9: Noon until 9 p.m.
Entry costs $5 for those older than 11 years, and is $3 for kids ages six to 11, according to event organizers.  Admission is free for those under 5-years-old.

Approximately 70,000 people attended the festival in 2011, the most recent attendance records available to Patch indicated.  And that's not including the hundreds of volunteers, vendors and other workers who are out there daily.

Besides offering food, games, rides and crafts shopping, the event has several musical performances that are all included in the cost of admission.  There's also the annual Cherry Festival Parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, along Beaumont Avenue.

This year's musical entertainment schedule is as follows: 
  • Thurs., 5p.m.: Wild Child
  • Thurs., 8 p.m.: The Beau Rodgers Band
  • Fri., 5 p.m.: The Basix
  • Fri., 8 p.m.: Fab Four
  • Sat., noon: Local school bands
  • Sat., 3 p.m.: Coasters, Drifters, and the Platters, Cannibal & the Headhunters
  • Sat., 6 p.m.: Peaches & Herb
  • Sat., 9 p.m.:  The Superfreaks
  • Sun., noon:  Ghost in the Machine
  • Sun., 3 p.m.: Seville Street Blues
  • Sun., 6 p.m.: The Grass Roots
