C.L. Lopez delved into journalism at an early age, seeing her name in print for the first time at the age of 10, when she won a San Bernardino County Sun writing competition.

She interned for the Press-Enterprise and Los Angeles Times Community newspapers, later working for the Redlands Daily Facts and Desert Sun newspapers.

She was a 2005 California Endowment Health Journalism Fellow and served two terms as President of the Inland Southern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Her work has garnered multiple accolades from the California Chicano News Media Association,  California Newspaper Publishers Association, Society of Professional Journalists and Associated Press News Executives Council.

Lopez returns to familiar territory in Loma Linda. She covered Loma Linda for the Redlands Daily Facts, including city government, education, crime, health, religion and special features.

She won feature writing awards from Associated Press News Executives Council awards in 2005 and 2006 for her in-depth human interest feature writing at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

In addition to Patch.com, the Southern California native is also a contributing writer for Christianity Today magazine.<br><br><br>
