Stone opposes and will work to repeal ObamaCare, according to his web siteRead More http://www.jeffstone2014.com/issues/. If Stone believes in the free market and that government should stay out of health care, why does the County not walk the talk and get out of the health care business? Why has the County expanded government with 5 conservatives at the helm? The County just borrowed $2 million from the Worker's Compensation Fund for sewers in wine country -- a project that is only half funded -- but the local press doesn't find that story newsworthy.

County Supervisor's Jumping on the Band Wagon... Let the record reflect that I was the firstRead More civilian to endorse Mike Hestrin Publicly in Riverside County...I am Kind of proud of that! A few weeks later Zellerbach showed his appreciation and I was charged with multiple felonies he created literally out of thin air. It took a few months for my case to wind it's way through the court system. In the end, THREE separate judges ruled "NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED! ALL charges have been dismissed. I as Chairman of The Riverside County Leadership Forum, Zellerbach must have felt that my support for Mike Hestrin, his opponent might perhaps be the beginning of his undoing. When I sent out a memo to campaign donors that I was going to be supporting Mike Hestrin and that I suggested they wait to start writing checks to Zellerbach's campaign until they were able to meet Mike and get a better understanding of him, that they might also decide he was the better of the two candidates. A few days after that email went out, Zellerbach was forced to cancel a fundraiser due to lack of interest. Less than a week later, I received a letter from the DA telling me to turn myself in to the court and answer to Felony Death Threats and Stalking charges, ALL of my firearms have been confiscated by Zellerbachs orders and I am still to this day left defenseless in my very own home because of Paul Zellerbachs abuse of his authority. I will expand on this in our next newsletter that will be hitting email inboxes across Riverside County in a few day's Learn more about The Riverside County Leadership Forum here: http://www.riversideforum.org/

Is this signing of the petition just for community of Stetson or is it for all residents ofRead More Beaumont? I have been wondering what the mello-Roos money was being used for.
Magda Kalter April 22, 2014 at 03:49 pm
Please, post the copy of your petition for others. We need to act together, not only one community!
Lloyd White April 22, 2014 at 05:13 pm
Unfortunately the Beaumont Mello-Roos Community Facilities District is divisive by design. It pitsRead More the new residents of Beaumont against the old and separates all the new developments from each other. This allows the City to maintain more control. Each "Area" in the district, Stetson is Area 18, have different agreements with the city. The original agreements set up by our developers limit the amount the city can lien against our homes. For example the limit for Stetson is about $6 million, they city has only borrowed about $4.75 million so far. We are amending our agreement to not allow anymore liens. Unfortunately, Stetson is one of the only "older" areas the city has yet to have been maxed out. It is likely that your areas have already maxed out. Check your property tax bill and let me know what area you are in and I will find out for you. My purpose for what I am doing is to make our city more accountable for their use of our money. I think an $80 million interchange on Hwy 60 to serve the industrialization of Beaumont should go to the voters and paid for by all tax payers city wide. The CFD monies should be used to upgrade the interchanges on the I-10 that all the new developments use primarily, Oak Valley and Cherry Valley, would be a proper use of CFD money. The large home developers have realized how bad the CFD interest rates are compared to home mortgage rates and one, KB Homes no longer plans to use Mello-Roos to finance their new development infrastructure. However, the City of Beaumont hasn't gotten the message, they are still grabbing all they can get. They just approved three new areas totaling $75 million. *****I offer my assistance to help any of the Areas in our city to make the Council more accountable to the proper use of our funds. Send me an email to OurFocusOurKids@gmail.com and I will try to help.

Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 06:00 am
Why do I have a problem with the Gates foundation? I think I said it before. They funded theRead More organizations that wrote the standards. They funded the organizations that reviewed the standards. They fuinded every group that supposedly had "input" into the development of the standards. There is NO record of what the "input" consisted of, or if any of it was implemented. All we really have on record is the Content advisor for Mathematics, Jim Milgrim, prof. at Stanford, explaining why he refused to endorse the math standard. We have the English Language content advisor, Sandra Slotsky, explaining why she, likewise, could not sign off on the standards. And she explains that she has sat on many such committees before, in her role in developing Massachussetts very well-respected standards, and she said that this is the first time she was required to sign a non-disclosure. She said such committees are usually subject to "Sunshine" laws. These are specific people, highly qualified people, giving specific and detailed testimony. But you would rather keep pointing to the CC website vaguely referring to "how educators were involved".
Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 06:39 am
I looked at the Wisconsin link you provided, and it gave a list of teachers on an ELA standardsRead More leadership team. This was out of context, and undated, so I dont really have an indication that it had anything to do with reviewing the CC standards, but assuming you just didn't copy enough pages into the link.....thay could list every teacher in America, by name, school, and department. If there are no records of what, if any recommendations were made, leading to what if any changes to the standards, I dont really see what that would prove. And since, as I have said, teachers and administrators at the local level are presumably under a gag order - if their states have signed agreements similar to NY - I don't know how we can be expected to trust anything about the CC. As I have said, I have several friends from college and HS who have been teaching for 25 + yrs, and my sister-in-law is a Vice Principal at a highly-ranked school in a highly-ranked state - and they all, across the board, HATE the program and what it does to children. And you can read the standards, but you do not have access to the agreements the states have signed, and do not know what other , untried methods of teaching will be mandatory under the Core.
