Irrelevant only to cowards, bullies, and those with no practical experience. Which are you? Or isRead More the best you can offer is another rousing volley of "Na-na-na-na-boo-boo?"

@russell, removing tenure does not remove due process protections, as you claim. Tenure is not theRead More only thing that needs to change. Teaching is a difficult job. One made more difficult by bureaucratic largess and a great deal of parental interference. I'd like to see an increase in managerial power along with performance based salaries. Pay teachers teach. Enable them to control their classrooms. Removing tenure is a good first step. There's a lot of dead wood in our teacher ranks. They need incentives to produce. They also need the tools.

We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! So society complains that Barbie is a poor role model and bad example for little girls but applaudRead More when a cconfused little boy brings her to school? And the somewhere down the road some parents will be at their sons funeral crying and wondering what happened. HIV Aids is the number one killer of gay men and the main way it is transmitted is by engaging in an immoral act just as the heterosexual who dies from the same disease. How any lifestyle, act or any reasoning to promote anything that is plagued with death is incomprehensible. Doesn't society have enough evils that take lives? Have we become so fearful of offending another that we tolerate anything even death and just call it love? And to use and influence innocent children like Cameron to push a lethal lifestyle is disgusting.

If the boy brought a teddy bear or horse, would he be into bestiality when he got older. You readRead More too much, especially sexuality, into a simple thing. Get your mind out of the gutter.
beaumontdave June 12, 2014 at 11:52 am
Sorry Diane, you can't respond on "reply", it will just disappear.
beaumontdave May 4, 2014 at 01:25 pm
Nothing to "brag" on, most rankings follow money, which is why Corona and Temecula getRead More higher marks. Beaumont's got more new housing and the property values that come with it. A unfortunate use of the term "dismal".

I'm a teacher in the Banning district, and I agree with all of your posts. The first thing I thoughtRead More about this report is that there is much information missing. Most reports on things such as these give us more comparisons. For instance, seeing high school rankings in Riverside County schools would help put things in perspective. Beaumontdave, you hit the nail on the head. Money certainly helps a lot. It's my understanding that Banning had the opportunity to bring Wal-Mart to our city (and inevitably all the business that followed), but chose not to do so. Renee Schiavone, if you want people to start taking your reports and this local Patch seriously, go the extra mile and include as much as you can in your reports. Anticipate what your readers are going to want to know, and then investigate issues further if need be.

Congratulations! It's great to know you're part of our local teachers. You seem like anRead More interesting and motivated individual. We're lucky to have you here locally.

So turns out I heard about this from my kid who's teacher went MIA on Tuesday. Nothing from theRead More school. I do believe being a parent who's child is in the teacher in questions class that I should have been informed of some details. I mean don't I have a right to know who has been around my kid and what they have been accused of?
Emily March 6, 2014 at 03:32 pm
I am a student of this teacher and I have never had any trouble with him. I have only heard rumorsRead More but I feel as if they are only rumors. He's a great teacher and with these substitutes it is really confusing and messy. I need my teacher back so I don't loose any material that I need.
caitlin membrino March 18, 2014 at 09:13 pm
Look this teacher is an awesome teacher i know for a fact that it was a pranking competition betweenRead More the two, and yes the teacher took it too far by throwing the backpack out the window but if the kid could dish it and couldn't recieve it he shouldn't be complaining there was no damage of personal poperty, no one was harmed the only thing damaged was someone's pride and now a teacher's out of work.

I think this is probably one of the best civics lessons these kids will ever have - every studentRead More ought to have to do this. **** Jeremiah

This is a disgrace that an elected official would go to a middle school and use profanity. It has noRead More bearing that "The kids have heard it before". This is not appropriate language by any public speaker in any format. Once again he speaks before thinking. Read between the lines here the kids were bored and he got angry at seeing the crowd not paying attention and reacted inappropriately. I guarantee you Mike Hestrin does not cuss when he teaches his college students. Just another classless act by a classless man. Let's make a change and elect Mike Hestrin for DA June 3, 2014.

Why a Steeler, or a Parrot, or a eagle, or a..........or a .....or a ? Since when has everyoneRead More become so easily offended by everything? Get over yourselves a bit and try to learn a bit of tolerance. You can't have freedom without tolerance and there is a huge lack of it in the world today. YOU WILL NEVER MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY!!! Stop worrying about it....
desertpatriot November 17, 2013 at 12:14 pm
@atc: please, there's nothing proud about being a 'rag' -they're one of the lowest forms of humanRead More existence. for that reason i'd change the mascot. question: don't you think a crusader on a horse jabbing a sword through a camel jockey's heart would as you say "...strike fear into your opponent on the sports field"??? if i was a member of the opposing team (especially muslim) i'd be scared sh!tless!!!

You got that right. Political correctness run amuck. People need to get over this crap and developRead More thicker skin. I can't believe 5 of the topics on the home page are devoted to this ordeal. Must have been a slow news week.

Good for him!! He must know that no matter what, someone in this over sensitive culture is bound toRead More be upset no matter the mascot choice!

"PC" has gone way too far in this country. No one has ever been promised that they willRead More never be "offended" by something or someone, except perhaps this new younger generation. Well guess what? You were lied to. EVERYTHING in life is not always "happy happy joy joy". Suck it up, get a life, and try actually doing something positive instead of making mountains out of piddly irrelevant crap. It is not society's job to make you happy, it is yours. Our society has lost it's backbone and it's ability or will to stand up and say "enough!". Just think of the positive things we could accomplish if we put as much energy into REAL problems/issues as we put into "feel good" crap?

How will they be able to read the Constitution? Everyone has a signature. Signing a check, or aRead More document?
Michelle November 14, 2013 at 02:11 pm
The Constitution was written in cursive. Signing a check or loan document. A signature is meant toRead More be in cursive!
