A community weekly that's part of the six-newspaper Century Group, the Record Gazette covers Banning, Beaumont and surrounding areas, including the Morongo Reservation, Cherry Valley and Cabazon (the only town in Riverside County ever to unincorporate). The paper has been a frequent media sponsor of local events, including Banning Stagecoach Days and Beaumont's Cherry Festival. Under former co-publisher and editor Charles Ferrell, the paper won a national American Legion award for its coverage of veterans affairs.
