Day Out With Thomas offers aspiring engineers and their families the opportunity to take a 25-minute ride with the colorful story-book engine and meet Sir Topham Hatt, railroad superintendent on the fictional Island of Sodor.
Rides are available Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Nov. 9-11, and then again on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17.
"Day Out With Thomas is a great family event and introduces a new generation to the timeless excitement of railroading," said Tom Jacobson of Redlands, an attorney and board chairman of the museum.
The event also includes the Imagination Station, a petting zoo, entertainment by Jules Music 4 Kids and caboose train and trolley rides.
Families should purchase tickets early to reserve ideal train boarding times and arrive no later than one hour prior to scheduled departure. Tickets start at $19 for ages two and older. You can purchase on Ticket Web or by calling the museum office at 951-943-3020.
Day Out With Thomas has become the museum's biggest annual fundraising event since it was introduced 12 years ago.
The museum boasts one of the largest railroad collections in the country with over 200 locomotives, passenger and freight cars, streetcars, interurban electric cars, buildings and other artifacts dating from the 1870's
