TRAM SNOW GUESSING CONTEST: There's 1 to 2 Inches at Mountain Station, 10 People Win Passes

The Wednesday storm that brought chill and damp to the Pass left 1 to 2 inches of snow at the Mountain Station at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and 10 people won passes for the attraction, a tram spokeswoman said Thursday.

The tram's Annual Snow Guessing Contest officially ended Oct. 9 with the first inch of measurable snow at the Mountain Station.

Snow Guessing contestants who guessed the correct date were:

- Renee Breiling, Carol Zachik, Shelly Erdman and Hilary Harrington of Palm Springs

- Jane Moore and Diane Lakata of Palm Desert

- Linda Dinko and Evy Laforce of Cathedral City

- Myrta DeMarco of Indian Wells

- David Butts of Anchorage, AK

The winners will receive four Tram admissions, tram spokeswoman Lena Smith said. A total of 853 postcard entries were received. The contest began Oct. 1.

There was still snow Thursday afternoon in Long Valley, according to live camera images from the ranger station.
