Top wind gusts recorded Monday by National Weather Service instruments included locations on the east end of the San Gorgonio Pass and in the Coachella Valley.
A reading of 85 miles per hour was recorded Oct. 28 at the Sky Valley gauge, five miles northeast of Thousand Palms, near Dillon Road, Weather Service meteorologist Stephen Harrison said in a phone interview.
A reading of 65 mph was recorded Monday at a location in the Whitewater area, near the junction of Interstate 10 and Highway 62, Harrison said. Another reading of 56 mph was recorded at a second location in the Whitewater area Oct. 28.
Also Monday, a gust of 48 mph was recorded in the Palm Desert area, according to the Weather Service.
