High Wind Watch for West Pass Late Saturday thru Sunday Afternoon

High winds will be possible in an area including the west San Gorgonio Pass late Saturday through Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service advised Friday.

The Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for the valleys of Riverside and San Bernardio counties, and for the mountains of San Bernardino county on the north side of the Pass.

Sustained winds out of the northeast are expected 20 miles per hour to 35 mph, with peak gusts to 60 mph possible in some areas, and up to 70 mph or stronger further west in the canyons of the Santa Ana Mountains.

Roads and freeways that could be vulnerable include Interstate 10, State Route 60 and all roads below the Cajon Pass, according to the Weather Service.

In Beaumont and Banning, daytime highs in the 70s are expected Friday and Saturday, and in the mid 60s during the winds on Sunday.
