Draft EIR available on this latest warehouse

Proposed 803,00 sq.ft distribution center/warehouse covering most of 38 acres with 179 truck bays to be constructed on the busiest intersection in Beaumont -- southeast corner of Beaumont Avenue/Hwy 79 and First Street.  If you want your voice to be heard on warehouses in general and this warehouse in particular -- take your comments to the Planning Department at the City Offices before they close at 5:00 on Monday August 19. By law, all responses must be acknowledged and your comments will become a part of the Final EIR.

Below are some of environmental issues that the developer has stated will have significant impacts on all of us living here in Beaumont.

AIR QUALITY:  This project will make our air worse and if you have health issues related to air quality, you certainly don't want to be breathing diesel fumes.

TRAFFIC:  anyone who has gone through that intersection will know that adding truck traffic can only make things worse.

NOISE:  This warehouse plans to operate 24/7 with semi-trucks coming and going at all hours.

AESTHETICS:  How a warehouse looks.  Plans call for a 42' High Cube building painted mostly white.  It will be the first thing everyone sees coming into Beaumont from the south.  Doesn't exactly say welcome does it?

Please join with those of us opposed to these warehouses taking over our town.  Anyone who was at the July 2nd meeting saw the power of the people at work.  But, we can't let up the pressure -- the city council assumes that if no one complains then everyone thinks they're doing a great job.  Please let them know your feelings about warehouses being built in residential neighborhoods.  Warehouses bring down property values and have adverse effects on the health and welfare -- not to mention the quality of life --for all of us living in Beaumont.  This is your chance to become a part of the permanent record and to have your voice heard.

Thank you, Mary Daniel
