Thousands Raised for MDA by Local Restauranteurs

The StandTrap recently hosted a golf tournament in order to give back to to the local community.

More than $7,000 has been raised by the owners of a Beaumont restaurant through a charity golf tournament that will now go to help those fighting muscular dystrophy.

The SandTrap Sports Bar & Grill, along with some help from the City of Beaumont Charitable Foundation, raised a total of $7,418 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, owner Ben Cloninger said Thursday.

This was the third annual event for the SandTrap, and organizers say they've raised more than $10,000 to date through this fundraiser.

A total of 104 people came out to the tournament at Oak Valley Golf Course-- including Beaumont councilmembers Brian De Forge and Jeff Fox, Cloninger said.

Cloninger says they're already planning on hosting the event next year-- and are aiming for a full house of 144 players.
