Soccer Team Collecting Items to Benefit Troops

The Ontario Fury, with the help of Boys and Girl Scouts, will be collecting essential items needed for troops stationed overseas to be given to the USO.

The Ontario Fury are calling upon area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to help members of the United States Military at their Jan. 19 game against the San Diego Sockers.

The Fury will be collecting essential items that will be given to the USO to be sent to troops stationed across the world, and in exchange, those donating items will receive a coupon for $2 off a ticket to any of the remaining Fury games at Citizens Business Bank Arena – including the Jan. 19 game, which starts at 4 p.m.

All Boy and Girl Scouts in uniform who participate in the drive will receive the coupon to use for tickets to a game, a public service certificate from the Fury upon turning in an item, participation in the pre-game Parade of Champions, a special raffle ticket to win special Fury prizes and a post-game autograph session on the field limited to Scouts and their families.

Scout groups are also encouraged to purchase tickets at group prices, and take advantage of other group experiences, including being part of the Tunnel of Fury or the Fury Fanatics, who sit on the bench during warm-ups.

Some examples of essential items needed by military personnel are: baby wipes, beef jerky, hot sauce, sunflower seeds, seasoning salt, gum, personal hygiene gear, sports drinks, eye wash, plastic storage bags and hard candies. Items should be brought to the Fury tent set up near the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office. Ticket discount coupons, raffle tickets and certificates will be handed out at this location as well.
