Christmas Gifts, Food for 200+ Children and Their Families at Set Free Yucaipa

The church on Calimesa Boulevard gave 200 brand new bicycles, boxes of stuffed animals, wrapped gifts and food bags to deserving children and their families on Sunday.

Christmas this year is a little brighter for more than 200 Pass area families who received presents and bags of food Sunday at the Set Free Church in Yucaipa.

"We try to do this every year," Pastor Willie Dalgity said. "To help people who need it and spread a little cheer."

The church on Calimesa Boulevard distributed 200 brand new bicycles, boxes of stuffed animals, wrapped gifts, and food bags to deserving children and their families after Sunday morning service.

For some boys and girls it was their first bicycle ever. Many of the bikes came with color-coordinated training wheels. Some parents were just as excited as their children.

"Yes, you got a big boy bike!" one mom told her son. "It's a big boy bike!"

People had to stand in line in the rain to get tickets for the food bags and bicycles, and then stand in line again, but no one seemed to mind.

Set Free Church in Yucaipa is at 13700 Calimesa Blvd. Set Free has several programs in California, and locations in eight other states and Haiti, according to its web site.
