150+ Youth to Attend Summer Camp Thanks to Help from Weekend Fundraiser

Organizers say between $15,000 and $20,000 raised will help some 160 first through twelve graders attend summer camp.

A weekend fundraiser for New Creation Church is predicted to raise thousands of dollars in funds for the organization’s youth programs.

Communications Pastor Juan De La Fuente tells Banning-Beaumont Patch that the event, now in its 6th year, should raise between $15,000 and $20,000 thanks to several generous sponsors and a full roster of people signed up to play in the fundraising golf tournament at The Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon on Saturday.

“We’ve had great participation as far as the community goes,” the pastor said.

As for where all that money will go after the event?  It will pay for a portion—or in some kids’ cases all—of the fees for a June summer camp.  Approximately 160 1st through 12th graders will attend.

“We want to be able to help the community and the members of our church,” De La Fuente said.  “We’re going to be able to send a lot of kids to camp with this money.”

After the tournament, a fundraising dinner was scheduled for nearly 200 people—with Banning Mayor Don Robinson and Beaumont City Councilman Brian De Forge to speak, according to De La Fuente.

A raffle at the event was slated to feature things like a big screen television and other goodies donated that total up to about $10,000 worth of prizes, the pastor said, adding that the Morongo Band of Mission Indians has been especially helpful with getting this fundraiser off the ground.

As of Friday night, tickets were still available for the dinner portion of the event, for $50 each.  If you’d like to head over there, call Juan De La Fuente at (951) 333-9199.
