Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens Touts Summer Program Lineup

The following is a news release from Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens: 

The Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens will be offering various summer programs for all ages.  There are opportunities for every family member.

 

Art camps will be taught by Kathie Dillion.  She currently works for the museum as our Exhibit Designer/Program Coordinator.  She is also a College Professor at Mt. San Jacinto College and teaches Art History.  Through art, she will be teaching kids how to utilize natural materials, create imaginary creatures, and explore crafts & games from far-off places like India, Africa, Asia and Europe.  The first session for ages 8-11 runs from 6/17/14 to 6/20/14. The second session for ages 6-8 runs from 6/24/14 to 6/27/14.   Both sessions are from 9:30am-11:30am. The cost is $50 per week. There will also be a “Kids Zone” offered for FREE for pre-K thru age 5 every Tuesday in July from 10am -11:30am that will feature stories, games, crafts and projects.

A Shakespearian Workshop for ages 12-17 will bring the works of Shakespeare alive through instruction from industry professionals in costuming, scenic design, lighting and sound, makeup and stage management.  The instructors are seasoned actors and working professionals from the “Actors Project” which is affiliated with Mt. San Jacinto College. The program runs from 6/17/14 - 6/21/14 and 6/24/14 - 6/27/14 from 12:30-5:30 and is $125 per week.

An outdoor family fitness class for all ages will be taught by certified instructor Paula Brooks. This motivational, safe and effective class will feature various tools including TRX, kettle bells and jump rope.  Ages 6 and up are invited to participate Saturday 7/12, 7/19, and 7/26 from 9am to 10am and 10am-11am. Cost per class is $5.  

 

The Edward-Dean Museum is a historic home that is committed to preserving its collection of 16th-19th century decorative arts while offering social, cultural and educational enrichment.  The museum is located at 9401 Oak Glen Road, Cherry Valley, CA.  Hours of operation are: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and closed on county holidays.
