Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital receives donation of 20 red wagons from McCarthy Building Companies

Twenty red wagons were delivered to the doorstep of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) thanks to McCarthy Building Companies “Heart Hats” community outreach program. Three Southern California hospitals including, LLUCH, received wagons for pediatric patients to use while undergoing treatment. The wagons were delivered by McCarthy Heart Hats staff on May 27.

“McCarthy’s donation of these wagons is just one of the many contributions the company has made to Children’s Hospital during our long-standing relationship,” said Jillian Payne, executive director, LLUCH Foundation. “We appreciate their commitment to giving back to the communities they serve through the Heart Hats program.”

As part of the Southern California Division of McCarthy Building Companies’ 150th anniversary, approximately 300 employees constructed 60 bicycles and 60 wagons during a teambuilding exercise to be donated to organizations throughout Southern California.

“There is no better way to celebrate McCarthy’s 150th anniversary and to reinforce our heritage as a community-based builder than by conducting a community outreach event and giving back to the communities in which we live, work and play,” said Randy Highland, McCarthy president, California region.

McCarthy Building Companies constructed LLUCH more than twenty years ago and also built the James M. Slater, M.D. Proton Treatment and Research Center 25 years ago.
