No Looking Back for Beaumont Football

There were no suprises after watching game film of 17-16 loss to Valley View.

Studying the film of last week’s season opening loss didn’t do much to null the disappointment.

Like Beaumont Coach Rick Lopez said of the 17-16 last second loss to Valley View…”Beaumont beat Beaumont.”

Beaumont led 16-14 with one minute left in the game when a series of miscues led the Cougars to the heartbreaking loss.

“It was a good crowd and they are a playoff team,” Lopez said. “We are trying to play up. So we are expecting to play tough teams and have games like that where we hope to come out on top. But we didn’t.”

Beaumont will begin the defense of its MPL title on Oct. 14 at Citrus Hills.

“I thought our defense played real good,” Lopez said. “They had a real good running back and we were able to knock that guy out.”

And the Cougar defense registered six 3-and-outs in the second half.

“I think the defense did a good job of rallying up,” Lopez said. “There was a little time when they had us going in the second quarter.”

The Cougars now have to most past the last second loss.

“We should have had the game won before that,” Lopez said.

Beaumont continues play on Friday at Cathedral City.
