Serra, which beat Chaminade in last year’s final, 30-28, was trying to win its fourth title in five years; with a victory, it was a lock to participate in the State Bowl Regional and, along with Bellflower St. John Bosco was a favorite to be selected for the Open Division. Serra was boosted by a 94-yard punt return and 95-yard kickoff return by Adoree Jackson. Chaminade coach Ed Croson has now won section titles in the Southern and L.A. City sections.
