Beaumont softball eliminated from ASA Tourney

Beaumont baseball Bronco All Stars play for title

The final remaining squad of Beaumont All-Stars was eliminated during Sunday’s early round of the American Softball Association (ASA) All Star “C” District Championships at Noble Creek Park.

But that hardly ruined the weekend for Beaumont’s roster of 12-and-under all stars. Beaumont, despite a tournament ending loss to Jurupa, qualified for the Southern California ASA “C” All Star State
Championships in Lancaster July 15-17.

The team will be the first Beaumont team to advance that far in three years.

“The competition is tough,” said Doddie Carlson, who runs Beaumont Youth Baseball. “Every city brings their best. It’s always tough.”

Beaumont Coach Robert Mendoza has been impressed with his team’s effort this all star season.

“I feel we have the best team we’ve had in four years,” Mendoza said. “They are good on defense, they make the throws, and they bunt.
Everything has really come together.”

Beaumont baseball to play for title today

The Beaumont Bronco All Stars will play in Monday’s Pony District title game against Palm Desert or Rialto.

Beaumont advanced into the title game with a 14-4 win over High Country on Saturday. The overall effort landed Beaumont in the Pony
Sectionals next week.

“It’s very big for the boys but every year Beaumont is expected to move on in at least one of the divisions,” Carlson said.  “But absolutely, it’s a big deal.”
