As a team the top five Beaumont runners scored a combined 25 points to beat out Hemet’s squad who finished with 39 points (low score wins). West Valley finished third with 92 points, San Jacinto came in fourth (98), Tahquitz was fifth (124) and Citrus Hill tallied 172 points for their sixth-place finish.
Of significant note was Vega’s fifth-place. Runners finishing in positions one through six who aren’t otherwise a member of a CIF playoff-bound team are rewarded with a place at the starting line at next week’s CIF-SS Prelims. Vega will get that opportunity.
The top three varsity teams advance to next Saturday’s CIF-Southern Section Prelims at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
