Semi-final official results from Tuesday's election for two seats on the Banning Unified School District Board of Trustees showed Martha A. Bederio and Jan Spann in the lead.
Bederio received 1,762 votes and Spann received 1,233 votes, according to the Registrar of Voters.
The tally posted by registrar's staff reads:

JOHN KALANI 218 4.29%
JAMES C. ''JIM'' SMITH 821 16.15%
JAN SPANN 1,233 24.25%
DAVID ''MR. VAN'' VANDEN HEUVEL 1,051 20.67%
MARTHA A. BEDERIO 1,762 34.65%
Total 5,085 100.00%
On Nov. 5, voters were advised to vote for no more than two of the five candidates listed on ballots.
