Documentary Film on San Gorgonio Pass

‘21st Century Boomtown’ a new documentary film featuring San Gorgonio Pass residents and a special appearance by Huell Howser, will premiere Friday April 13, 2012 at Dorothy Ramon Learning Center's San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Gathering Hall, 127 N. San Gorgonio Avenue, Banning. The film tells the stories of individuals including small business owner Eric Rush and local historian Leslie Rios who fought to keep out of control development from destroying their way of life.

The film is the third installment in the ‘Living on the Dime’ series produced by Inland Southern California-based Panchebek Pictures.  Produced during the housing boom from 2003 to 2006, the films feature communities along the I-10 or 'the Dime' from Bloomington to Blythe, telling stories and perspectives from over 100 residents, political leaders and activists. Two additional short features ‘Living on the Dime: The Freeway and the Barrio’ and ‘Kokopilli and the Last Giants’ will screen at the 7:00 pm show.   '21st Century Boomtown' was produced and directed by Redlands native Antonio Gonzalez Vasquez. This free presentation is sponsored by the Dorothy Ramon Learning Center, Banning Library District, and Inland Mexican Heritage.
