Beaumont Wrestler is Southern Section Champion + Tournament MVP

Junior Terrill Sidener wrestles in the 126-pound class, and is now the fourth CIF wrestling champion in Beaumont history, joining Clayton Schuelke, Tony Pietropaula and Amanda Hendey.

Beaumont Cougars wrestler Terrill Sidener won a California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section championship Saturday in Moreno Valley, and he was named the lower-weight MVP of the tournament.

Sidener wrestles in the 126-pound class, and he is now the fourth CIF wrestling champion in Beaumont history, joining Clayton Schuelke, Tony Pietropaula and Amanda Hendey, Beaumont High Athletic Director Martin DuSold said Tuesday.

Sidener was in strong form Saturday as he pinned 4 of his 5 opponents, including his opponent in the championship match, DuSold said.

"The victory qualifies him for the regional masters' meet, which combines all wrestlers from southern California in the qualifying tournament for the state championships," DuSold said.

The masters' meet is Saturday Feb. 25 at Temecula Valley High.
