Beaumont's Malina Nelson Signs Intent Letter with Missouri Baptist University

In March, she placed 6th in the 112-lb. division at the Folkstyle National Championships in Oklahoma City. She is the second female wrestler in Beaumont history to place at nationals and earn All-American recognition, her athletic director said.

Beaumont High wrestler Malina Nelson has signed a National Letter of Intent with Missouri Baptist University, where she will start in Fall 2012, her school announced Monday.

In March, Nelson placed 6th in the 112-lb. division at the in Oklahoma City, following a 7th-place finish in the CIF-State championships, Cougars Athletic Director Martin DuSold said.

Nelson is the second female wrestler in Beaumont history to place at nationals and receive All-American recognition, DuSold said. She also took the championship in her weight class at three tournaments this season.
