Beaumont High Seniors Prepare to Graduate

A total of 464 seniors will be graduating tonight, in the new Beaumont High School Stadium.

Nearly 500 seniors of Beaumont High School will end one chapter of their lives tonight, and begin the next.

The 464 graduates of the senior class 2012 will accept their diplomas tonight, at 5 p.m.

The ceremony has even more significance in this centennial year of Beaumont, as the students become the first ones to use the new Beaumont High stadium, which has been under construction for the last year.

What's more-- there's to the ceremony, as Brookside Ave. also opens up to the public for use.

Both the stadium and street openings are only for the special day, though, as they each still have some finishing touches to be considered 100 percent complete.

After today, construction crews will continue working -- which seats roughly 3,800 people-- for another 2-3 months, according to Beaumont Unified School District Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Wael Elatar.

There is one small building that needs to be completed, along with the stadium lighting and other small details, Elatar said.

As for Brookside Ave., that is scheduled for an official opening on or near June 15.

Beaumont High was established in 1911, a year before the city incorporated.
