Beaumont High Cheer Fundraiser Thursday at Guy's Italian Restaurant

Beaumont High cheer squads and their boosters are hosting a fundraiser Thursday evening at Guy's Italian Restaurant in Banning.

The event is planned 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 23 at 5970 W. Ramsey St. in Banning. Mention 'BHS Cheer' when ordering and Guy's will give 15 percent to the Cougars cheer program, organizers said.

The Cougars varsity and junior varsity cheer squads placed first at two regional competitions last month, earning invitations to national competitions in Anaheim and Las Vegas, Beaumont High booster club secretary Angie Hubbs said.

The 20-member varsity and 14-member junior varsity placed first at the Sharp competition Saturday Jan. 28 in Rialto, following up their first-place finish on Jan. 22 at the United Spirit Association competition in Brea, Hubbs said.

The varsity coach is Shannon Simmons and the junior varsity coach is Kristy Lane, Hubbs said.

The United Spirit Association Nationals are scheduled March 30, March 31 and April 1 in Anaheim, and the Sharp Nationals are April 21-22 in Las Vegas, Hubbs said.

"We are currently looking for anyone who wants to sponsor the teams to help send them to both of the National Competitions," Hubbs said. "Sponsors will receive a poster of the team with sponsor's name on it to hang in business for $150, the company name on our Nationals shirts and a poster of team with sponsor's name on it to hang in business for $300, and for $500 the company logo on our Nationals shirts and a sponsor plaque."
