Young Artists Sought for Congressional Art Competition

"This competition is a great opportunity to showcase our youth and the diverse artistic talent we have right here in the 36th District," said Ruiz, D- Palm Desert.

Local high school students are encouraged to enter the 2014 Congressional Art Competition, Rep. Raul Ruiz's office says.

Public, private and home-schooled students in Ruiz's 36th District can enter. Winning artists from each district and their families are invited to a reception at the U.S. Capitol, according to Ruiz's office.

"This competition is a great opportunity to showcase our youth and the diverse artistic talent we have right here in the 36th District," said Ruiz, D- Palm Desert. "I look forward to highlighting our winning artist's piece in the halls of Congress."

Paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art and photography will be accepted. Work must be 28" by 28" by 4", including the frame, and be original in concept, design and execution.

Students must fill out an information and release form.
