Winter Storm Warning for Mountains Both Sides of Pass Thru Saturday AM

The warning for the mountains of San Bernardino and Riverside counties is in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday.

A winter storm warning was issued Friday for the mountains on both sides of the San Gorgonio Pass, as the brunt of a cool, wet storm brought showers at lower elevations to Beaumont, Banning and Cabazon.

Heavier rain and isolated thunderstorms were expected Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The winter storm warning was in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday, and included locations such as Angelus Oaks, Forest Falls and Mountains Home Village in Mill Creek Canyon north of the Pass, as well as Pine Cove, Idyllwild and Mountains in the San Jacinto Mountains.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible above 4,000 feet, and 6 to 12 inches above 5,000 feet, according to the Weather Service.

Overnight lows from Beaumont to Cabazon were expected from the mid 30s to low 40s.
