Sample Ballots and Info Pamphlets on the Way for June 5 Primary Election

Sample ballots and information pamphlets for the June 5 presidential primary election are going to be in the mail starting Thursday, the Registrar of Voters for Riverside County announced Wednesday.

Voters in the San Gorgonio Pass still have until May 1 to vote in the mail-ballot  election for the San Gorgonio Memorial Health Care District.

More than 30,000 voters in Banning, Beaumont, Cabazon, Cherry Valley and Calimesa are being asked to extend or reject an existing parcel tax that will expire June 30.

For the June 5 election, the registrar will begin mailing April 26 sample ballots and info pamphlets to about 835,000 households countywide.

San Gorgonio Pass voters and those elegible to vote in the June 5 election should check the deadlines listed at the bottom of this report.

"About half will be mailed initially, with the remainder sent to voters by sometime early next week," the registrar announced.

Voters may mark selections on a sample ballot and use it as a guide to help them complete their official ballots at the polls, the registrar said.

"The Registrar of Voters recommends that voters review the materials before casting an official ballot," Registrar of Voters Kari Verjil said.

If voters do not receive an informational publication in the mail, it will be available on the Internet at www.voteinfo.net beginning Thursday April 26.

Voters also may call the registrar’s office at (951) 486-7200 or 1-800-773-8683 to request a mailed copy.

Location of each voter's polling place is expected to be printed on the information pamphlet's back cover, which also includes an application to request a vote-by-mail ballot, Verjil said.

A Spanish-language version of the pamphlet also is available at www.voteinfo.net and a copy can be mailed upon request.

The registrar advised voters of the following deadlines for the June 5 election:

May 7 – First day of early voting at the Registrar of Voters office in Riverside, and first day the registrar is allowed to mail vote-by-mail ballots to voters.

May 21 – Last day to register to vote for the June 5 election.

May 29 – Last day the registrar may accept mailed requests for vote-by-mail ballots. After May 29, voters must go to the registrar's office to request and pick up a vote-by-mail ballot. Voters who have requested but not received a vote-by-mail ballot by May 29 should call the registrar's office at (951) 486-7200.

May 30 – Recommended last day to mail a ballot locally with high likelihood the registrar will receive it in time to be counted in the June 5 election.

June 5 – Election Day

Polling places are expected to be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Vote-by-mail ballots must be in the possession of the Registrar of Voters no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. By law, ballots that are postmarked but that are not in the Registrar’s possession before the deadline cannot be counted.
