Ruiz Releases First TV Ads

The Democratic challenger for Congress is the first to unveil ads for the November election

The 36th Congressional district race hit the airwaves this week with the release of campaign ads by challenger Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Coachella).

In Ruiz' English-language ad, "Imagine," he parodies what a hospital emergency room would look like, if staffed by Washington politicians.  The three refuse to work together, with one exiting while saying, "Gotta go... five week vacation in Florida" in a not-so-subtle swipe at Mary Bono Mack.   Bono Mack's husband is running for the U.S. Senate in his home state of Florida.

The Spanish Language ad, "Dream", outlines Ruiz' upbringing in Coachella, and his involvement with the community. It ends with a plea for citizens to register to vote.

Bono Mack Political Director Marc Troast responded to the Ruiz ads in a statement saying:

"Nancy Pelosi must have forced Raul Ruiz to pretend to oppose Obamacare. He is not fooling anyone. Raul Ruiz is a big government liberal who has stated he wants to 'maximize the implementation' of Obamacare. Trying to hide his record is ridiculous and shows he cannot be trusted."

Ruiz has been on record as supporting the Affordable Health Care Act.
