Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) released a statement this morning on her Facebook page about the deadly shooting spree that took place in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater.

12 were killed and 38 wounded when a gunman opened fire during a showing of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."


“News of the horrific and senseless shootings in Aurora, Colorado cast a pall over Capitol Hill today,” read Bono Mack’s statement. “It’s just so terribly heartbreaking, and yet one of the great strengths of our nation is our ability to pull together as Americans during difficult times. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends. Please remember them in your prayers. Thank you.”

The statement was attached to a link to a Denver Post article about the shooting.

In November, she will seek re-election in the newly-formed 36th Congressional District, which includes Whitewater, Cabazon, Banning, Beaumont, Cherry Valley and Calimesa.
