Local Swearing-in Planned for Congressman Raul Ruiz

The public is invited to a local swearing-in ceremony for the freshman Democratic Congressman on Jan. 24.

A ceremonial swearing-in ceremony will be held this week in Indio for Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, his spokeswoman said.

Ruiz defeated incumbent Mary Bono Mack, a Republican, last November to represent the 36th Congressional District. He took the oath of office on Jan. 3 at the U.S. House of Representatives, Ruiz spokeswoman Whitney Mitchell said.

The Jan. 24 Indio ceremony, which is open to the public, will begin at 5 p.m. at the Indio Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, 83100 Date Ave.
