Knight to Take Seat on Beaumont City Council As Gall Finishes Term

Councilwoman-elect Brenda Knight will be sworn into her new role at Tuesday's council meeting.

Tuesday's Beaumont City Council meeting will mark the changing of the guard for the group, as Councilwoman-elect Brenda Knight gets sworn in, and Councilwoman Nancy Gall finishes her term.

According to the city council agenda, Knight will be sworn into office at the beginning of the meeting, immediately following role call of the current council, which includes Nancy Gall.

After the brief ceremony, in which Councilman Jeff Fox will also be sworn into office for his fourth term, Knight will take her seat on the dais.

Knight and Fox were each elected in the Nov. 6 election, each taking home more votes than Councilwoman Gall.

When the results were in, Gall told Banning-Beaumont Patch that though she's disappointed in the outcome, she wished Brenda Knight well on the council.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Beaumont Civic Center, 550 East Sixth Street.

Hate to kick someone who is down & out, so I'll just say Good bye Nancy........

Maybe Brenda can have one of our City employees collect Nancy's campaign signs from alongside the roadways? Of course, only after they are finished taking down hers.

Maybe all five can explain the city's audit which shows its now in the red.
Charles Ferrell December 04, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I agree that campaign signs, still up after all this time, are trash, and should be picked up by city staff and the the candidates whose names are represented on those signs or the head of committees or organizations whose causes are represented by those signs, should be fined, per sign, to pay for the cost. Shame on those candidates whose signs, nothing more than trash at this point in time, still clutter our streets and neighborhoods. Meanwhile, I want to know about this city audit I keep reading about, that apparently has Beaumont in the red. What is that all about? I would expect the new-look city council should issue a demand that the city manager have an answer, ASAP.

BBCRG / BeaumontGate have made an investment in public records, they are waiting for the complete public records order to be fulfilled by the City of Beaumont. The intial audit done for the City of Beaumont by a third party showed Beaumont in a 11 million dollar hole (2011 Audit) being balanced by CFD funds which is being looked into as we speak by the State Controller. I have not blogged about this until all the facts are in and reviewed by professional state auditors. What I have stated here is 100 factual and accurate. The main stream press is waiting for all the facts before something like hits the fan! My blog will be one of the first to come out with the first story so stay tuned !

No Victor you don't have the facts. And you are misinformed about the audit. If you would have been at the City council meeting tonight you would have found out that the city has a 17 million dollars surplus. The 11 million is money owed to the city from the RDA. Thanks to the state of California we will have to wait a while to get this money back due to the state eliminating the Redevelopment Agencies. This money owed to the city went to pay for streets and road improvements. Improvements to our parks and low income projects that helped residents in Beaumont including the Barrio area where we use the funds to purchase material for housing repairs that were done by the World Changes back in the 1990's. In regards to the request for the public records, Mrs. Bingham was informed again tonight that all she has to do is make an appointment to review the material on a city computer. If she wants the documents copied she has to pay the cost as she has done in the past. As far as I am concerned this matter is settled.

How about filling that pothole I hit every day for the past year or longer on my drive to work. You will find it in the left turn lane for the Pennsylvania Ave. on ramp. Thanks =)
Washy December 05, 2012 at 01:48 PM
wow you hit it everyday? I never once have hit that pothole. Try not aiming for it
Just Post... December 06, 2012 at 01:06 AM
Welcome Brenda! It's nice to see someone new on the council, hopefully a fresh perspective will be helpful. By the way if you can do anything about letting the city residents know that Oak Valley Pkwy. from Orange to Cherry is a single lane road, maybe you can prevent future bicyclists from getting creamed by impatient motorists passing on the right side.
Hopeful December 06, 2012 at 01:57 AM
You're missing the point Washy, but thanks for verifying there is a pothole there in need of repair.
Washy December 06, 2012 at 02:36 AM
Actually there is not a pot hole there I was verifying that there was a pot hole on the shoulder of the road but it was gone for three days before you posted here. And do tell who did you call to report said pot hole too or did you just aim for it (to quote you) and hit it every day (365 times) Scary to think you were driving that far past the white line into the should howerver
Washy December 06, 2012 at 02:38 AM
OMG yes...I was almost taken out by a cop there he put over his loud speaker "get on the sidewalk" ( I was running) But there is also NO SIDEWALK THERE!!!
voice of reason December 06, 2012 at 04:15 AM
washy if you know there is a pot hole there why do you continue to hit it everyday? is there absolutely no way to drive around? every day do you decide that your going to hit the same pot hole just because it is there
Hopeful December 06, 2012 at 04:31 AM
If you can read correctly I said in the LEFT TURN LANE on Pennsylvania Ave. You know the lane you get in to turn onto the freeway? Please do quote from my actual post where I said I aim for it. I have better things to do with my time than argue with someone who cannot read, nor spell. Washed out!
A Better Beaumont December 06, 2012 at 04:48 AM
Do they ever plan to widen or restripe that section of Oak Valley so there can be two lanes?
Washy December 06, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Washy isn't an idiot (perhaps you should read ALL the comments before you do) Hopeful is the idiot who claims to hit it "everyday for the last year" My point was A) avoid it and B) it wasn't (isn't) in the turn lane, it was on the shoulder. And to respond to Hopeful I just was there they did not resurface the turn lane and there is NOT a pothole in it. It was on the shoulder right after you made your turn and on the ramp. But again Washy not an idiot to hit a pot hole (more then once) in the same spot that I travel everyday.
Washy December 06, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Well then you can be forever branded a liar cuz there is not a pothole in the turn lane on Penn to get on the freeway. Everyone can go look cuz they didn't resurface the turn lane. Again did you EVER report the pot hole you hit 365 times? (Moron) and there is a difference in misspelling and typo (again you proved the name moron fits you)
Beaumont Cares to Know December 06, 2012 at 06:34 PM
Gosh, last year Roger was bragging the city had 11 or 12 million in reserves, but now it balloned to 17 mil? Where did all this money come from, and where exactly on that audit does it show it? How did 5 mil get made in a year?
Angelwings March 07, 2013 at 09:26 PM
I may be mistaken but I believe I read something about more than a couple huge loans being taken out in the city of Beaumont or does that have nothing to do with the subject at hand?
