Is a Bono Mack vs Ruiz Debate in the Making?

KESQ/KPSP has invited 36th Congressional district candidates to a televised debate. One candidate has accepted

A televised Congressional debate between incumbent Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) and challenger Raul Ruiz (D-Coachella) may be in the making.

According to Ruiz' Campaign Manager Kyle Layman, they have accepted an invitation to a debate from KESQ/KPSP General Manager Michael Stutz.

“Dr. Ruiz accepts your invitation and thanks you for your public service,” wrote Layman in response to an email from  the KESQ General Manager. “He believes strongly that every candidate has an obligation to a full and vigorous debate.”

The format proposed by the stations would allow the candidates to ask each other at least one question. Ruiz said he was willing to accept that provision.

Ruiz has also sent a letter to the Congresswoman challenging her to a Spanish language debate, which would be televised by KVER.
