How's Your App-titude? RivCodes Hackathon Planned by Riverside County
Got an idea for an app that will make life better for local residents? A Hackathon is planned this month.
Apps that make it easier for residents to find services online, submit crime tips or report potholes. Sound good? Those were developed at Hackathons sponsored elsewhere in California and in other parts of the country.
The Riverside County Information Technology Department and SmartRiverside plan their own Hackathon, RivCodes, later this month.
RivCodes will be held June 28 at the Riverside County Innovation Center, 3450 14th St. in Riverside. The Hackathon begins at 9 a.m. and runs continuously until the next day at noon. During the event, programmers will be provided data sets to use in building their applications. Participants will then have 24 hours to develop ideas and come up with an application that improves quality of life through technology.
After participants complete their design and development work, a panel will judge the programs and winning entries will receive prizes. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to participate.
