Fire Memories Museum Opens Friday at Former Station 2, Ready 9/11 Sunday

The museum, in temporary digs at 5261 W. Wilson St., will be open 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. A 9/11 ceremony is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday.

A family of fire engine and memoribilia collectors plan to open their Fire Memories Museum at 5 p.m. Friday in old Station 2 on West Wilson Street.

The Hammer brothers have engines dating back to the early 20th century and hand-drawn pump wagons and hose wagons from the 19th century.

The museum will be open 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. A 9/11 ceremony is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served on Sunday, and organizers will be asking for $5 donations.

The Hammers are also working with the city of Beaumont on a permanent location for their collection. The next meeting for the Noble Creek Fire Museum-Learning Center proposal is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 20.
