El Casco Reservoirs in San Timoteo Canyon on Agenda Thursday in Murrieta

A park district commission meeting is scheduled 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday Jan. 10 at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve visitors center, 39400 Clinton Keith Road.

The reservoirs known as El Casco Lake in San Timoteo Canyon are part of a plan being considered by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District, and the district's advisory commission will consider a step in the plan at a meeting Thursday in Murrieta.

The fenced reservoirs are just west of the San Timoteo Canyon Schoolhouse and the reservoirs at Fisherman's Retreat.

The commission has 11 members who represent Riverside County's supervisors and their districts, according to the park district's website.

On Thursday, the commission will be asked to approve an memorandum of understanding between the park district and the Riverside Land Conservancy "to work cooperatively to develop and further the concept and ideas for El Casco Regional Park," according to meeting agenda.

The park district and the land conservancy "seek to cooperate, participate and promote the future development of a regional park in the El Casco area of San Timoteo Canyon in Western Riverside County," the memorandum of understanding states.

A pdf copy of the five-page memorandum is attached to this report.

San Timoteo Canyon was once considered part of San Bernardino County, before the formation of Riverside County. Its history includes ties to Redlands and Beaumont, and the area still has a Redlands zip code.

The meeting is scheduled 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday Jan. 10 at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve visitors center, 39400 Clinton Keith Road, Murrieta, Rob Hicks of the ecological reserve said Wednesday in a phone interview.

I personally don't have too much control over the way the site looks and functions, since it's partRead More of Patch overall. However, I am forwarding all your suggestions on to our design team and appreciate all the feedback-- positive and negative! And Jeremiah, I've asked around about the FB commenting thing some more, and there really are no plans to do away with our Patch logins. The FB comments are just meant to be a "plus" for those who want them... and others don't have to touch :)

100% agree with that! Plus I liked the way that in the old one you could reply to an individualRead More comment. This one only lets you post at the end of the thread. Pretty sure she has started using the Facebook comments program, which by itself will keep me from posting. If the old one doesn't come back I will most likely be saying sayonara. I pretty much like everything else, but this was the real draw of the Patch and it's strong point - especially during the fire. Advertisement pane is about 10% too large as well and should be on the other side of the page to look right. Renee is trying though, which is appreciated. I just hope she listens about the comments section. Jeremiah
