Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, the congressman for the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass, is scheduled to host a summit meeting Saturday with representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs, veterans' service organizations, and local veterans, according to his staff.
The event is scheduled at 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at UCR Palm Desert - B Building, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert.
"The summit is intended to provide a place for veterans, stakeholders, community members, and policy makers to come together to devise local solutions to the issues brought up" during veterans forums held earlier this year, Ruiz' staff said in an announcement Friday.
The event "will also gather representatives from the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System and the San Diego VA Regional Office to help veterans with claims processing on location," Ruiz' staff said. "Additionally, the Veterans Mobile Clinic will be on site to provide healthcare services to veterans."
The event is billed as a culmination of four veterans forums Dr. Ruiz held in the 36th Congressional District in August and September.
