Congressional Candidates Speak of 9 / 11

Congressional candidates share their thoughts on the September 11 tragedy

As September 11 remembrances take place across the region, Congressional candidates Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Coachella), and incumbent Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) spoke regarding the tragedy of eleven years ago.

Via a statement, Ruiz said:

"Today, we remember with heavy hearts the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  This was one of the worst acts in the history of mankind.

"We remember those who perished, we give thanks for the courage our brother and sisters revealed in our darkest hour, and we renew our covenant as a nation that no act of terror will diminish our light to the world.

"To the public servants who stepped forward in a time of national crisis, to the men and women  who serve in uniform to ensure we never witness such horror again, to the victims of the unspeakable tragedy of September 11, 2001, and to the families of the fallen, our prayers are with you.  You will never be forgotten."

Congresswoman Bono Mack reflected by saying:

"September 11 will always be a time when America remembers and honors h thousands who died that fateful day.  It is proper and right that we do so.  We showed, during that period, that the American spirit remains intact in the American people united.  Today we offer our prayers and support to the families of those who lost a loved one and remember and honor the spirit of freedom for which they died."

Neither candidate has announced a public appearance at remembrances today.

Incumbent Bono Mack is running against Ruiz for the 36th Congressional District seat in November. The district includes the Pass area.
