The assistant superintendent of business services for Beaumont Unified School District is on administrative leave, according to the district board's president.
Wael Elatar signed a three-year contract in April 2011 to work for the district through June 2014, according to district records.
His salary started at $132,862 and as of July 1, 2012, it was $135,127, according to his contract and assistant superintendent salary schedule 214.
Elatar, who could not be reached to comment for this report, is on administrative leave, according to district board of trustees president Susie Lara.
"This is a personnel issue and we are unable to provide any further information at this time," Lara said in an email Wednesday Sept. 26.
Lara could not immediately be reached for comment.
Carol Severns is acting superintendent of business services in Elatar's absence, another board of trustees member said.
Superintendent Barry Kayrell could not be reached for comment. He is moving to Hemet Unified School District in the near future.
Acting superintendent Maureen Latham, who begins work Oct. 1, also could not be reached for comment.
