Banning Council Votes Robinson Mayor

The Banning City Council voted to re-organize Tuesday night, making Councilmember Don Robinson the city's new mayor.

Councilmember Debbie Franklin is the new mayor pro tem.

Councilmember John Machisic is the new chair of the Community Redevelopment Agency. Councilmember Barbara Hanna will  chair the Housing Authority.

Councilmember Bob Botts is new vice-chair of the Redevelopment Agency and the Housing Authority.

The changes took place immediately after all voting was completed, Robinson said.

In 2012, Banning will begin an annual rotation of the mayorship and all of the City Council positions, Hanna said.

"So if someone is elected as a council member they will likely be a mayor at some point," Hanna said.
