Banning residents wishing to take care of city business earlier in the morning can do so beginning next month, officials announced Wednesday.
According to Bill Manis, director of economic development for the city, the new hours will commence on April 1.
From Monday through Thursday, the facilities will now be open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., Manis said. City Hall will remain closed on Fridays.
Currently, it doesn't open until 8 a.m., so residents will be gaining an extra four hours of access.
"The City is pleased to offer our residents, local contractors, and other clientele doing business with the City an extra hour each day to take care of their City related business," said Mayor Deborah Franklin.
Frankiln said the additional open time doesn't cost anything more for taxpayers, since they're just shifting workers' schedules.
"City staff is already working 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, we simply want to increase the level of service we offer our clientele,” she said.
Yup, a 10yr/no bid contract for Waste Management (who raised rates just 1 year after getting that contract)...Electric rates increased 15% in 2007, and another 36% in 2009...$14 million dollar of Water Bond money spent on the Police station instead of water infrastructure...(resulting in) 50% water rate increase since 2010...48% sewer rate increase since 2010... Gotta love that previous Council 2006-2012. The new Council is already starting to clean house, more to follow!
I'm STILL waiting to see what the hell their plan is for that apocalyptic looking, empty business park (4th & Lincoln) south of the freeway. They should be out hustling their ass till sundown, trying to recruit business owners to set-up shop downtown. Guess time will tell.
