Yucaipa Motorcylist Killed in Redlands: 'Special Construction Chopper' Crashed

Christopher Lee Stanart, 28, sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which was reported at 10:07 p.m. Sunday on Lugonia Avenue east of California Street in Redlands, a coroner's investigator said.

A Yucaipa man died Sunday night when his 2011 "special construction chopper" motorcycle crashed on Lugonia Avenue in west Redlands, a coroner's report said.

Christopher Lee Stanart, 28, sustained fatal injuries in the crash, which was reported at 10:07 p.m. Sunday on Lugonia Avenue east of California Street in Redlands, according to the San Bernardino County coroner.

Redlands police responded to the single-vehicle crash and found Stanart down on the roadway, the coroner's report said.

"His black 2011 special construction 'chopper' style motorcycle was nearby," the report said. "It appeared that Stanart was eastbound on Lugonia Avenue east of California Street when he lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway. At some point, Stanart was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the roadway."

Paramedics from the Redlands Fire Department responded and pronounced Stanart dead at the scene at 10:18 p.m., the coroner said.

Redlands police were investigating, department spokesman Carl Baker said Monday afternoon.
