Felony DUI charges were filed Thursday against a San Diego woman who was allegedly driving drunk when her car crashed into a motorcycle carrying a man and a woman in Palm Springs, seriously injuring both riders.

Kelli Lyn Mihos, 27, is charged with two counts of DUI causing injury, with sentence-enhancing allegations of causing great bodily injury. She was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Mihos was arrested Monday, about two hours after the 1 p.m. crash on East Ramon Road at Calle Abronia.

Witnesses said a 2002 Mini Cooper westbound on Ramon turned south across the road into the path of a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle traveling east, Palm Springs police Sgt. Harvey Reed said.

A 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both thrown from the motorcycle, suffered what Reed called major -- though non life-threatening -- injuries.

A passenger in the Mini Cooper suffered moderate injuries, and Mihos had minor injuries, he said.

Officers determined Mihos was under the infleunce and arrested her at the scene, Reed said. She was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The victims will not see true justice with this case because of the Riverside County D.A.'s office view on DUI drivers.

The only thing a "good" defense lawyer will do is make sure the suspect has no appealable error in court while maximizing all billable hours. $$$. All lawyers are officers of the court, meaning their primary obligation is to the court not you.
