A woman was locked up Friday on suspicion of murder in the death of her husband, who "had likely been involved in a violent physical altercation" inside his residence before he died early Wednesday, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Kendra Deone Smith, 54, of San Jacinto, was arrested at 8 p.m. Thursday and booked early Dec. 6, according to inmate records. She was held Friday on $1 million at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Her husband, Matthew Smith, 64, of San Jacinto, was found fatally injured in the road, in the 300 block of East 7th Street, when deputies responded at 3:23 a.m. Dec. 4 to a report of a man down, sheriff's Sgt. Jim Erickson said in a statement.

Matthew Smith was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 4:10 a.m. Dec. 4, coroner's personnel said.

Several subjects were detained Wednesday at the scene on East 7th Street, Erickson said.

Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit and the San Jacinto Police Department continued investigating and "arrested the victim's wife" on Thursday, Erickson said in an update Friday.

Information about the cause of Matthew Smith's death had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

Anyone with more info was urged to call Investigator Espinoza at (760) 393-3500 or Sheriff's Dispatch at (951) 776-1099.

It most certainly is washy,I found the other link yesterday evening. Here it is: http://banning-beaumont.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/man-c6ac0395 . Perhaps this woman will finally receive a wake up call, especially considering her ostensible mental state. Enjoy!

I lived two houses down from this couple at one point and was verbally assaulted by Matthew on more than one occasion. Saw him chase a teenage girl out of the house threatening her one night with his shirt off. He stopped when he got to the driveway and she ran to the neighbors house all the way at the end of our street. The night he was stabbed by the son he was outside with a knife waiting for the son to come back BEFORE he got stabbed. I don't know what happened inside of the home. I talked to Kendra many times and she was always going through some kind of mental or physical abuse. I am going to see if I can be some kind of witness because I was their neighbor for two years almost and I know Matthew was no saint and very violent and aggressive especially toward women and that teenage girl who lived with them. He was only nice when he was trying to sell his weed. I promise I will be a witness and my mom and my sister as well. I'm glad this woman finally got out of that situation, I just hate that it had to be like that. If I saw all that I saw in just the two years that they lived by me, I can only imagine what she went through all the years they were together. I wonder where the children are, there were a few more children in the home, young teens I believe. I pray for them and hope everything turns out alright.
