Vandals Cause $12,500 in Damages to Beaumont High School

Was it a senior prank that went too far?

Those who arrived at Beaumont High School early Thursday morning noticed something was not right.  Dozens of trees across campus had been cut down, and scattered around the property.

Patch is told that the trees had been planted about eight years ago.

Now, police say whoever is responsible for the incident may be facing felony vandalism charges.

Beaumont Police Chief Frank Coe tells Patch that 25 trees were chopped down, and that because they're valued at approximately $500 each, the incident is categorized as a felony.

With $12,500 in damages, police are taking this case possible prank seriously, and anyone that knows who may be responsible is asked to contact BPD at 951-769-8500.

Stupid acts of stupid children, catch them and make their folks, and them pay. It's not a joke, it's damage and years with out shade because spoiled children don't care.

I don't think video cameras a allowed on school campuses. This needs to be changed if not but it still might not help. I am sure the Beaumont PD will do what they can to get the person or persons who did it. I could have been an outsider and not a student. Too quick to judge!!

is there any 'social standing' regarding the trees..?? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- when i was in high school the trees had an unofficial designation - certain clicks of kids sat under the same trees every day..... if the bhs trees were utilized in the same manner it might be the reason the trees were targeted... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- or it could be a simple as some kid having access to a axe and nothing better to do with it.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but kids don't have axes - they get them from their parents.....and there's a parent out there that knows their kid used the family's axe to vandalize the school.....

There's a parent out there that knows their kid used the family's axe? You ever been to Beaumont- land of identical track homes with one token bush? And its 2014. Kid's today have two working parents, and have their own cars to go all around town whenever they want. The school should have cameras.
