Two Shot, One Dead, in Banning Drive-By

The man who died, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was a local resident, according to coroner's reports.

A Banning man died this weekend in a drive-by shooting, police report.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of W. Wilson Street, near Repplier Park, when a vehicle pulled up and shot at two men, according to Interim Police Chief Alex Diaz.

"One subject was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel on scene while the other subject was transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he is being treated for his injuries," Diaz said Monday.

The suspects in the murder are being sought, and police did not immediately have descriptions to provide.

The Banning Police Department Detective Bureau is handling the investigation and is requesting anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact them at (951) 849-1565.
