Two people were killed Sunday in a crash on Interstate 10, according to Caltrans and California Highway Patrol reports.
Caltrans officials warned motorists of the crash just about 2 a.m. but neither they nor the CHP had released many details by early 3 a.m.
The incident was reported at 1:27 a.m. on the eastbound I-10 east of Cherry Valley Boulevard in Calimesa. Officers had closed the slow lanes and had been diverting traffic to the center divider, according to CHP reports.
The entire freeway was briefly closed to allow a sweeper to clean debris from the roadway.
No other information was immediately available.
