Two Hospitalized in Beaumont Wreck

Witnesses say one driver was speeding and possibly blew a stop sign right before the crash.

Two people were hospitalized— one of them with critical injuries— in a Wednesday afternoon crash in Beaumont.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 12:15 p.m. along 6th Street and Xenia, according to reports from the scene.

Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson tells Patch that two people were taken to the hospital to be checked out for injuries that happened as a result of the crash.  One person was in critical condition, while the other suffered minor injures, she said.

The wreck involved a white Ford pickup truck and a white Mazda 6 sedan.  The sedan had major front end damage, while the truck appeared to have been hit from behind.

Witnesses on scene said they saw the driver of the sedan speeding from the east towards the intersection, and that the driver may have blown the stop sign prior to slamming into the truck.  However, police could not immediately confirm those reports.

While crews completed their investigation of the crash, 6th Street was closed east of Xenia.
